One of the enhancements most often requested by our customers is the ability to add tables to WebBuild pages. We'll be including this function (and others) in the next major version of WebBuild Express, but we wanted to make an immediate solution available in the interim.
The WebBuild Table Builder enables you to enter data in tabular form. You can also import data from a tab-delimited or comma-delimited text file, which makes it easy to transfer data from Excel spreadsheets and other applications. There is a 'Table Viewer' feature that lets you view the table as it will be rendered in a browser. There is a variety of options for controlling the table layout and format. Once you have built a table, the program enables you to copy the HTML code to the Windows Clipboard, and it is a simple matter to paste the code into a WebBuild Express code cell.
The WebBuild Table Builder is absolutely free! You do not need to be a WebBuild customer to use it, although we will only provide technical support to people who have purchased one of our products.
How to get started
(1) Click here to download the setup program for the WebBuild Table Builder.
(2) After downloading it, run TB_setup.exe. This will install the program.
(3) Click the 'Start' button and then 'WebBuild Table Builder' on the programs menu.
When you run the program, you'll see a blank table with several rows and columns:
You can enter data by clicking on a cell and then typing it in. A much better alternative, especially for large tables, is to import the data from a text file in tab-delilmited or comma-delimited format, such as can be exported by an Excell spreadsheet or other program.
Complete instructions for using the Table Builder are included with the program. |
